I’m pleased to introduce Light & Land, the first in a new series of photography zines bringing together some of my landscape work in a more intimate format.
Light & Land contains 32 carefully selected photographs, exploring the relationship between landscape, light, form and the quieter moments that often draw me to make an image in the first place.
For now, Light & Land is available as a digital edition, designed to be enjoyed on an iPad, tablet or computer. I wanted the digital edition to be immediately accessible — purchase it, download it, and begin looking through the work straight away.
A little about zines
Zines have a long history as small, independently produced publications, created outside traditional publishing and made to put ideas, art and photography directly into people’s hands. Their roots stretch back to early amateur publications and the science-fiction fanzines of the 1930s, later becoming closely associated with independent music, art and counterculture.
Photography zines continue that tradition: personal, affordable and deliberately intimate, giving photographers the freedom to sequence a body of work exactly as they want it to be experienced. Light & Land is very much made in that spirit.
The physical edition is coming
The printed edition of Light & Land is currently being produced. Once the copies arrive and I’ve had the opportunity to check the finished printing myself, they’ll become available to purchase.
The first printing will be limited to 50 individually signed copies.
There is something very different about holding photographs on paper, and the physical edition remains an important part of this project. But the digital edition gives me an opportunity to share Light & Land now, wherever you happen to be.
